Why it matters
At Keech Hospice, blood transfusions are part of the compassionate, specialist care we provide every day. These aren’t just clinical interventions—they’re vital, life-enhancing moments.
- In 2024, we delivered 221 transfusions in our Wellbeing Centre.
- This January alone, we saw a 70% rise in transfusions compared to the same month last year.
Blood donations help our patients feel more comfortable, restore energy, and give them precious time with their loved ones. Every drop makes a difference.

A national story—with a local impact
Across the UK, NHS Blood and Transplant is calling for more blood donors—especially from communities with rarer blood types or those historically underrepresented.
As a hospice that champions inclusivity, choice, and compassionate care, Keech is proud to support this call. We believe everyone deserves the chance to live well and die well. And that starts with a strong, supported community.
