Keech's kindness gave me hope

Stephen shares his story after being recommended to Keech by his community nurse after a change to his medication.

Until recently, I was being cared for at home by community nurses. When a new drug to help control my cancer made me feel sick several times a day, my nurse suggested Keech.

I was really frightened — especially on the ambulance journey. When my son said goodbye, I told him how scared I was.

But since I arrived, I’ve realised I didn’t need to be.

The team at Keech have looked after me with such kindness and dignity. They’re helping to get my symptoms under control, and there’s hope I’ll be able to go home and spend Christmas with my family.

Care like this makes a huge difference for patients and families like mine, but it doesn’t happen for free. It takes skilled staff, compassion, and support from people in our community. I already support Keech through the hospice lottery, I’m glad I did as I’m receiving the benefits now.
