As CEO of Keech Hospice Care since 2016, I bring over 30 years of leadership experience in cancer and palliative care, driven by a passion to transform how communities embrace end-of-life support. My career has included shaping national care standards during my time with Macmillan and Sue Ryder, experiences that continue to guide my work today.
At Keech, I’m proud to lead a dedicated team committed to helping patients live well for as long as possible while ensuring their families feel supported at every stage. My vision is for Keech to be a beacon of excellence, reshaping perceptions of hospice care and fostering a community where everyone feels empowered to talk openly about life, death, dying, and grief with confidence and compassion

Finance and Corporate Services Director
I joined Keech Hospice Care in 2014 as Head of Finance and now serve as Finance and Corporate Services Director. As a qualified accountant with 14 years of experience at BDO LLP, I bring extensive expertise in financial management and corporate services to the role. I lead Keech’s finance and IT functions, focusing on ensuring the charity operates efficiently and sustainably to support our vital mission of providing exceptional care to patients and families.

Deputy CEO and Clinical Director
I’ve been a registered nurse since 1991 and joined Keech Hospice Care in 2009. Today, I’m proud to serve as Deputy CEO and Clinical Director. With over a decade of experience as a Macmillan clinical nurse, I’ve dedicated my career to palliative care, striving to make a real difference in the lives of patients and their families.
At Keech, I oversee the delivery and development of our care services, ensuring high-quality, holistic support reaches as many people as possible. I’m deeply committed to advancing Keech’s mission of providing compassionate, patient-centered care that truly supports those we serve.
Andrea Daniels MBA FCIM FRSA
Executive Director: Innovation, Digital and Engagement
I joined Keech Hospice Care in 2022, bringing over 30 years of experience in strategic development for charities and charter organizations. As a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, I’m also proud to serve as Chair of Trustees for the Hackney Night Shelter and to lecture in data analysis and insight.
At Keech, I lead the digital, fundraising, commercial, and communications teams, focusing on driving innovation and enhancing services to meet the changing needs of our patients and their families. I’m passionate about advancing Keech’s impact through creative and transformative solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives.
Juliette Benson
Associate Director: Patient Services (Adult)
I’ve been a qualified nurse since 1985, bringing with me extensive healthcare experiece from the NHS and over 20 years in operational management within the Independent Healthcare sector. Since joining Keech Hospice in 2012, I’ve been dedicated to ensuring that our adult care services are responsive, personalized, and delivered to the highest standards of care and safety. I’m passionate about maintaining excellence in adult patient support and take pride in leading a team committed to making a real difference.
Sonya O’Leary
Associate Director: Patient Services (Child)
I’ve been a Registered General Nurse and Registered Sick Children’s Nurse since 1992, dedicating my career to supporting children and young people. With expertise in oncology, bone marrow transplant, and palliative care, I’ve had the privilege of working at some of the UK’s leading hospitals. Since joining Keech Hospice in 2016, I’ve been leading a specialist team to deliver holistic, end-of-life care for children and young people across Hertfordshire, Bedfordshire, and Milton Keynes. My focus is always on providing compassionate, high-quality support for families during the most challenging times.
Clare Burden
Associate Director – Supportive Care & Social Work Services and Supportive Care Team
I joined Keech Hospice in 2013, bringing with me nearly two decades of experience in community nursing. I qualified as a registered nurse in 1994 and began my career on the children’s ward at the Luton and Dunstable Hospital, where I worked for a year before transitioning to community nursing. I spent 18 years working across Luton and Bedfordshire, qualifying as a District Nurse in 2000.
My time in the community gave me a deep understanding of the importance of delivering compassionate, patient-centered care, which continues to inspire me in my role at Keech.
Matt Ambler
Associate Director: People and HR
As Associate Director of People and HR at Keech Hospice, I’m passionate about creating an inclusive and empowering workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. Since joining Keech in 2013, I’ve focused on championing equality, diversity, and inclusion, ensuring that these values are at the heart of everything we do. With HR experience across national charities and public services, I’m committed to creating equitable opportunities and supporting disadvantaged individuals into employment. I hold a Business Studies degree and a CIPD Level 7 Professional Diploma, which underpin my dedication to fostering a positive and supportive working environment.
Angela Burgess
Associate Director: Commercial and Trading
I joined Keech Hospice in 2012, bringing with me over 30 years of experience in corporate and third-sector retail. I’m proud to lead our retail operations, which generate over £1.5 million annually to support specialist patient care services. As a passionate advocate for sustainable fashion, I’m an active member of the Charity Retail Association and currently chair the Southeast and East of England Hospice Retail Steering Group. It’s incredibly rewarding to combine my retail expertise with a cause that makes such a meaningful difference.

Associate Director: Supporter Engagement
I joined Keech Hospice in 2014 and lead the fundraising team with a deep passion for the transformative power of giving. With over 20 years of experience in local, regional, and national fundraising, I truly believe that fundraising not only provides vital support
for charities but also creates meaningful connections for everyone involved. Specializing in relationship fundraising, I’m committed to treating every supporter as an individual and highlighting the personal impact their generosity can make. It’s incredibly fulfilling to help make a difference through the power of giving.
Paula Welsh
Associate Director Integrated Governance & Improvement Administration
I joined Keech Hospice in 2003 and currently lead the Quality, Governance, and Data Team. With over 20 years of experience in governance, risk management, and quality improvement, I oversee the development and implementation of integrated governance frameworks, ensuring all processes align with regulatory standards and best practices.

Simon Ogden
Chairman
I’m Simon Ogden, and I’ve had the privilege of serving as Chair of Keech Hospice Care since 2021. With over 30 years of experience in commercial and marketing roles within the pharmaceutical and vaccine industry, I’ve built my career around launching innovative medicines and vaccines. Now running my own consultancy, I bring this expertise to Keech, helping to strengthen governance and ensure compliance as we deliver vital care to those who need it most.
Based in Harpenden, I’m passionate about making a difference through hospice care and feel inspired by the incredible work of the Keech team. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, scuba diving, traveling, and cheering on my favourite sports teams.
Judy Greevy
Vice Chair and Trustee
I’m Judy Greevy, and I’m proud to serve as Vice Chair and Trustee at Keech Hospice Care. With a career spanning both public and private sectors, including my role as an HR Director in the Civil Service, I bring extensive experience in leadership and organizational development to support Keech’s vital work.
Having lived in Bedford for over 30 years, I’ve been actively involved with local organizations, including the hospital charity, and I know firsthand how essential hospice care is to families and communities. I’m passionate about making a real difference and am committed to helping Keech deliver its mission of exceptional care. In my spare time, I enjoy golf, tennis, and singing with my local choir.
Iain Malcolm
Treasurer
I’m Ian Malcom and I recently retired after 25 years as a Finance and Commercial Manager for a leading American telecommunications company, and I’m thrilled to bring my financial expertise to Keech Hospice Care. As Treasurer, I play an active role on the Audit and Risk, Investment, and Remuneration committees, helping to ensure the charity’s financial strength and sustainability.
Married for over 30 years with two children, I live in north Buckinghamshire and enjoy playing golf and traveling with my wife in my spare time.
Pete Cannon

I’m Pete Cannon, and I became a Trustee at Keech Hospice Care after experiencing the compassionate care the hospice provided for my father in 2016. That personal connection inspired me to give back and support Keech’s vital work.
With 34 years of experience at Vauxhall, I bring practical insight and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by individuals and families navigating life-limiting illnesses. As a Trustee, I’m committed to helping Keech achieve its goals and continue making a meaningful difference in the community.
I live in Dunstable, where I enjoy staying active, spending time with my four children and six grandchildren, and keeping fit.
Mim Heyes

I have a personal connection with Keech Hospice Care, as my son, who had severe life-limiting disabilities, was cared for by the hospice until 2015. That experience inspired me to become a Trustee, allowing me to be part of a legacy that supports other families facing similar challenges.
Before this, I was co-owner of Moseley Road, part of a Turkish manufacturing group that designs, develops, and produces garments for high-street retailers. I live in London with my husband and two children, and I’m proud to play a role in helping Keech continue its vital work for families who need it most.
Jeff Lustig

I’m a qualified solicitor with over 40 years of experience across both the private and public sectors. Before retiring, I served as Borough Solicitor and later as Director of Corporate Governance for one of London’s largest boroughs.
As a Trustee at Keech Hospice Care, I bring expertise in law, governance, and strategic management to help strengthen the delivery of our mission to lead the way in providing excellent care. I’m also proud to support two other charities, and I’m committed to using my experience to make a meaningful difference for the patients and families Keech serves.
Mike McMahon

I’m Mike McMahon, and I’m honoured to serve as a Trustee at Keech Hospice Care. After a 45-year career at Luton Borough Council, where I held senior roles across various services and finished as a Service Director, I bring extensive experience in corporate governance and strategic planning to support Keech’s vital mission.
Now semi-retired, I’m also a Director of a management consultancy and community interest company, as well as a Trustee for Luton Town FC Community Trust and Hatters’ Heritage. I’m passionate about making a meaningful impact at Keech and ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional care to those who need it most.
Debra Smith

I’m Debra Smith and I joined Keech Hospice Care’s Board after serving as a Trustee for The Living Well Centre (formerly Bedford Daycare Hospice) since 2019. My career began as a registered nurse in Bedford and grew into leadership roles across the East Midlands, giving me extensive experience in strategic planning, governance, and performance management.
I’m passionate about enhancing patient services and am excited to support Keech’s future development, ensuring we continue delivering vital care to those who need it most across Bedfordshire.

Helen Nellis MA (Barrister) CVO CStJ
I am a qualified Barrister and academic by background, with a career spanning the law, higher education, health, and the commercial sector. I was honored to serve as Lord-Lieutenant of Bedfordshire, appointed by HM The Queen, from February 2012 for ten years.
I have held leadership roles in several major organizations, including Chairman of Bedfordshire Health Authority, Luton Health Action Zone, and Bedford Hospitals NHS Acute Trust. In higher education, I have served as Vice-Chairman of the Universities of Luton and Bedfordshire and as a member of university governing bodies and councils. Additionally, I have been a Governor at two state-sector schools in Bedfordshire.
Robert Voss – CBE CStJ- HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire – Ambassador
I was appointed Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire by HM The Queen in August 2017, following over 40 years as a commodity trader, including nearly 30 running my own business.
Since my first visit to Keech Hospice in 2018, inspired by meeting my “good friend Jacob,” I’ve been a passionate supporter. I was struck by how Keech is a place focused on life, not death.
As a patron or president of over 20 charities and voluntary organizations, I established the hospice wish list appeal to support local hospices, including Keech, during the pandemic.
Geoffry Farr MBE DL – Ambassador
I have supported Keech Hospice since its formation 30 years ago, leading fundraising for the building and establishing the garden with volunteers. With a background in engineering and garden centers, I’m a former Chamber of Commerce President, High Sheriff, and Deputy Lieutenant, now eager to help Keech continue to thrive.

I am Co-founder and CEO of AiSolve, with over 13 years’ experience delivering transformational digital strategies across retail, leisure, and education globally. I grew up in Bury Park, Luton, near Kenilworth Road stadium, and serve as Community Ambassador for Luton Town Football Club. As the owner of Bartham Press and founder of Community Interest Luton, I lead initiatives to improve local lives, bringing extensive business, charity, and community experience to my ambassador role.
Gurch Randhawa PhD FFPH DL – Ambassador
I am a Professor of Diversity in Public Health and Director of the Institute for Health Research at the University of Bedfordshire. I’m proud of the partnership between the University and Keech Hospice, contributing research to support culturally competent end-of-life care for the UK’s diverse population.
Vinod Tailor MBE DL – Ambassador
I have a background in financial services and corporate financing, with experience across 32 countries. As Deputy Lieutenant and former High Sheriff of Bedfordshire, I’ve worked closely with local charities. I’ve long admired Keech Hospice and its impactful work in the community.
Ruth Jaksic – Ambassador
With 20 years’ experience in asset management and consultancy in the UK and US, I’ve lived in North Hertfordshire most of my life. A passionate supporter of Keech Hospice, I previously served on the Hertfordshire Development Board for the BraveHerts Children’s Appeal and actively advocate for children in the region.
Nicholas Lambert – Ambassador
I moved to North East Hertfordshire in 1992 after serving in the Army and a 30-year career in investment management. Passionate about supporting children with life-limiting illnesses, I became involved with the BraveHearts Appeal and Keech Hospice Care, championing its innovative approach to children’s care. I live locally with my wife, Fi.
Maria Collins – Ambassador
I live in Flitwick with my husband and our cockapoo, Ruby, and am proud to have two daughters and three grandchildren. My career spans extensive NHS experience, including roles at London teaching hospitals, in public health, and as Director of Partnerships & Public Health at Great Ormond Street Hospital.
In 2010, I founded a Home Instead social care business to transform home care for individuals in Luton and Central Bedfordshire. My passion for improving dementia care, inspired by personal experience, led me to establish the Young@Heart dementia-friendly community café, supporting 80 individuals weekly since 2016.
A Trustee of Keech Hospice for 12 years, I’ve also served as Chair of the Luton Dementia Action Alliance and am a Dementia Friends Ambassador. I was honored with the Paul Harris Award from Rotary for my community contributions in 2020.
