Molly, Isla and Harry, aged just nine and ten, are walking, running or cycling one kilometre every day for 40 days in memory of their friend, Laura Gap. Their challenge is a heartfelt tribute to a much-loved friend and a way of saying thank you to Keech Hospice, which cared for Laura and supported her family.
The children began their challenge at the start of the school holidays and will continue right through to September, completing an incredible 40 kilometres each.
What started as a simple idea between friends has already captured the hearts of their community.
Together, they have raised more than £3,300 for Keech Hospice and are hoping to reach £3,500 by the end of the summer.
Laura’s mum, Paulina, said:
“Laura would be very proud. She is always watching over from heaven and telling the angels what amazing friends she has.”
Their determination is a powerful reminder that age is no barrier to kindness. Every kilometre travelled represents friendship, compassion and hope for families who rely on specialist hospice care.
To help spread the word, the children are wearing specially designed T-shirts in Laura’s memory, each featuring a QR code that links directly to their fundraising page. Along the way they are encouraging conversations about Keech Hospice and inspiring donations from people they meet during their daily challenge.

“This challenge is a lovely way for the children to remember Laura, while doing something positive for other families in need. We hope the determination of the children inspires others to support this amazing local charity.”
Isla’s mum, Gina Reilly, added:
“Keech Hospice gave Laura and her family incredible care and support, and we’re so proud that the children wanted to give something back.”
