It’s hard to put into words what that felt like. After 43 years together, our world turned upside down in an instant. But David, true to who he was, didn’t let the diagnosis take away his joy. We made a promise—ten minutes a day to feel the sadness, and the rest to focus on life, love, and each other.
We kept that promise. We made memories. We even got to Canada for my 60th birthday—something I’ll treasure forever.
Back home, as things got harder, Keech Hospice stepped in—not just for David, but for both of us. Their care wrapped around our family in the kindest, most practical ways. From Donna helping David keep his independence, to the hydrotherapy and strength-building sessions, to the emotional support I didn’t even realise I needed—they were just always there.

Now, this Christmas will be my first without David. I miss him more than I can say. But I’ll be remembering him as part of Light up a Life—because he deserves to be celebrated. He lived every moment with courage, with humour, and with so much heart.
