Frequently asked questions

What items can I donate?

We accept most items, including clothing, shoes, home accessories, and electricals. Furniture donations are accepted at our shops in Welwyn Garden City, Waltham Cross, Stopsley, and Harpenden.

Please ensure furniture with fabric has the original Fire Safety label attached.

Do I need to wash the clothes that I am donating?

Please ensure your clothing items are clean. However, there’s no need for them to be freshly laundered.

Can you collect items from my home?

Yes, we offer a collection service for larger items like furniture. To arrange a collection, please contact us on 01582 492339 and ask for the retail team or call your local shop.

Some of the clothes I’d like to donate have holes in. Can I still donate them?

We can recycle any clothing that isn’t of saleable quality, and all the proceeds still come to the charity, so please go ahead and donate them – we’ll do the sorting for you.

Can I donate electrical items?

Yes, we accept electrical items. All electrical donations are tested for safety before being sold.

What items can’t you accept?

We cannot accept certain items, such as white goods (e.g., washing machines, dishwashers, cookers) and microwaves. Furniture with fabric sections must have the original Fire Safety label attached.

Are there any guidelines for donating furniture with fabric sections?

Yes, furniture with textile sections (such as sofas, armchairs, and dining chairs with soft padded seats) must have the original Fire Safety label attached.

This ensures we comply with safety regulations.

We unfortunately cannot accept items without this.

What do you do with valuable items?

We put a lot of research into understanding their value. If we believe an item is worth a substantial amount of money, we may then sell it on our Keech eBay shop or take it to auction. We want to get the best price for everything you generously donate to us.

Can I Gift Aid my donations?

Yes, if you’re a UK taxpayer, you can Gift Aid your donations. This allows us to claim an extra 25p for every £1 raised from the sale of your items, at no extra cost to you.

How do I Gift Aid my donation?

Please ask in store for a Gift Aid declaration form when you make your donation, and the shop team will be happy to explain more.

How do I arrange a collection?

To arrange a collection, please contact us through retail@keech.org.uk or call your local shop. We’ll schedule a convenient time to pick up your items

Is there parking at your shops?

Most of our shops have parking available outside for dropping off donations and all our shops have shoppers’ parking nearby. If you’re donating to one of our shops, the shop team will be happy to help you, wherever possible.
