We’re here for you, to give emotional care as well as support with any practical matters such as registering the death and arranging the funeral.
We will support you for as long as you need us. Over the months or years ahead, we’re here for you and your family; we can visit you at home and we are only a phone call away. Here are some of the people you might meet.
Yes, one-to-one support is a vital part of what we do at the hospice and, if need be, we can also give one-to-one support at home or at a child or young person’s school.
We have several groups to help you and your family cope with your bereavement.
There’s our Silver Lining support group for anyone whose loved one has died and was known to Keech Hospice Care. It can help you to share your feelings with others who have had a similar experience. The group meets at the hospice 7.30-9.30pm once a month on a Thursday.
We also have Talking Elephants which brings together anyone who has been bereaved for coffee and conversation.
Yes, there’s Sparklers. This is a pre- and post-bereavement support group for children aged five to 18 years old. Sparklers runs every month on a Saturday from 10am to 1pm. It’s a great way of using fun and play to help explore feelings and share stories. We also offer one-to-one sessions, if preferred.
Our family support workers offer pre- and post-bereavement one-to-one emotional support to children and young people. This can be given at the hospice, at home or at school.
We hold our beautiful, annual Light Up a Life service where you can dedicate a light on our hospice tree in memory of your loved one, whether an adult or a child. The service is held in early December when the tree is lit up for the first time and it remains lit up until Twelfth Night.
You might also like to remember a loved one through an online tribute site, where you can place a personal memorial. Keech Hospice Care works with the web-based memorial charity MuchLoved to help people create a dedicated tribute site on the internet.
