Responsible gambling
While the majority of people do gamble within their means, for some, gambling can become a problem.
It may help you to keep control to remember the following:
- Gambling should be entertaining and not seen as a way of making money.
- Avoid chasing losses.
- Only gamble what you can afford to lose.
- Keep track of the time and amount you spend gambling
If you want to have a break from gambling you can use our self-exclusion option by downloading and returning the self-exclusion form, calling our team at Sterling Lotteries on 0330 678 1161 or emailing keech@weeklylottery.co.uk with your name and address.
On receipt, you will be excluded from all draws and from making any payment for a minimum period of six months.
If you need to talk to someone about problem gambling then you can contact GamCare.
GamCare is the leading national provider of information, advice, support and free counselling for the prevention and treatment of problem gambling.
Their services are confidential and non-judgemental. GamCare can be contacted on their Freephone helpline on 0808 8020 133 or visit their website.

Prizes and Proceeds
In the 12 months from April 2025 to March 2026, for 49 non-inflated draws (where the top prize was £1,000) there were 152 prizes per draw with an average chance of winning 83-1. For 4 inflated draws (where the top prize increased to £3,000 and also doubled as one of 3 raffles) there were 13 prizes per draw with an average chance of winning of 2,853-1.
The winning entries are selected by our External Lottery Manager, Sterling Management Centre Limited at their offices in Barrow-in-Furness using a random number generator that has been tested and certified by an independent, Gambling Commission approved test house. Prizes are awarded in order of selection (the first number drawn will be awarded the top prize, the second number drawn will receive 2nd prize, and so on). Each entry is only eligible to win one prize in each draw.
In the 12 months from April 2025 to March 2026, £689,000 was raised by the lottery. Of this, £459,000 (67%) went directly towards patient care.
Of the remaining £230,000, £114,000 (17%) went on prizes and £116,000 (17%) on expenses (including £50,000 on growing the lottery and £16,000 on salaries). We constantly review our costs and expenditure to keep these as low as possible.
