With the students currently exploring the topic Save the Planet, the visit gave them the chance to learn about sustainability, donating and the importance of giving pre-loved items a second life, while seeing first-hand how Keech shops support our community.
Bringing the classroom to the community
With support from Lisa, Store Manager and Ian, Driver the students visited the shop armed with donations and £1 each to spend on a carefully selected range of children’s books and toys.
Lisa arranged a dedicated area at the front of the shop filled with items the children would enjoy browsing, helping to create a welcoming and engaging experience for every student.
By donating items and choosing pre-loved books and toys to take home, the children were able to see how small actions can make a big difference for both people and the planet.
Nicolla Drury said: “The children and staff were amazed by everything they saw and truly benefitted from being able to donate items and then choose from the lovely selection of toys and books. It really helped bring their learning about sustainability to life.”
A memorable day
Our driver, Ian quickly became a favourite among the students, with many keen to challenge him to an arm-wrestling contest. Despite Ian’s imposing stature, we’re delighted to report that every single child came away a winner.
Nicolla added: “Lisa and Sabrina, your kindness and helpfulness with each child was exceptional and we are very grateful. The care you showed helped make the visit such a positive experience for everyone.”
Supporting learning and sustainability
Visits like this demonstrate how our retail shops can help educate and inspire young people while supporting sustainable shopping habits within our communities.
By encouraging donations, reuse and recycling, our shops help reduce waste while raising vital funds to support the specialist care we provide for patients and families across Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes.
We’d like to thank Nicolla, Oak Class, Lady Zia Wernher School and our wonderful Finway team for making the day such a success.
