We like to help support your child to develop so, at day support, they can enjoy a whole range of specialised play activities. For children who are unable to attend school due to illness, day support provides education and helps them to interact as we have many sensory toys to stimulate and encourage exploration. We also take the time to focus on symptom management and memory work.
We offer support for a set period of time to try and achieve an agreed goal. However, our support is available for as long as you need us.
Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm, at the hospice. We can be flexible, though, depending on the needs of your child and family. We also offer sessions in the community which last up to two hours.
How about our Tots ‘n’ Toys group, which takes place every Thursday at the hospice? It’s a fun group for children under five years old and their parents. There’s always a lot going on – music, play and craft activities. The group gives your child a chance to play with other children while our care team are on hand for advice, too, if you need them. It’s a safe and clean environment, where children can receive help with symptoms and parents can learn techniques to help manage them.
There are also groups – usually on Wednesdays – for older children and young adults.
You can also book appointments for your child, or for other members of the family, with one of our complementary therapists.
It’s easy! Just ask to be referred to day support by your health or social care professionals, including your Keech Hospice Care community nurse or community palliative care support worker. You can also call us on 01582 497871.
