A Bedford based charity has awarded its local children’s hospice a generous grant of £75,000 to help fund its services in the community.
Liz Searle, Chief Executive Officer at Keech Hospice Care, says the three-year grant from the Harpur Trust will help the charity to support more seriously ill children and their families when they need it most.
“We’re incredibly grateful for the generous grant from the Harpur Trust which will help us to ensure that children in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Milton Keynes facing a terminal or life-limiting illness receive excellent care and support,” said Liz.
“As a charity, we rely on the community to help raise 70 per cent of the £5.7million we need every year for our care services, so grants such as these go a long way to helping us make the difference when it matters the most for our patients.”
While many of Keech Hospice Care’s services are offered at the hospice in Luton, the Community Support Team helps families whose children are too ill to travel by providing free specialist care in their own homes, schools and hospitals, as well as vital support for their family and friends.
The hospice offers local children in Bedford the opportunity to have complementary therapy, bereavement support, a play specialist and music therapy, along with access to clinical services.
