Dads’ kayak challenge raises more than £7,000

Everyone at Keech Hospice Care would like to say a huge thank you to Graham Durcan and Richard Nordsted for kayaking an incredible 130 miles to raise money for our charity.

Last month, the pair, known to many as Radar and Bootsie, completed the ‘Seaside to Seasiders’ challenge, kayaking from the Wash in north Norfolk to their home town of Milton Keynes in aid of our hospice.

When you think that these two individuals have never taken on such a tough test of endurance and that they only became familiar with us a few months ago, it really is quite amazing.

We’re so very grateful for the support of these two men. The money they’ve raised will help us to continue providing free, specialist care and support for adults in Luton and Bedfordshire, and children in Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire, and Milton Keynes with life-limiting and terminal illnesses, as well as their family and friends.

I’d also like to thank all of those who supported Radar and Bootsie in their challenge – including all of those who donated to raise an outstanding £7,350.90.

Once again, the generosity of local people has been inspirational.

As a charity we rely on the community to help us raise 70 per cent of the funding we need for our care each year. Without fantastic fundraising challenges like this one, we would simply not be here today to ensure that everyone facing a terminal or life-limiting illness can receive excellent care and support at a time in their lives when they need it most.
