Team Keech is lacing up and ready to take big strides on the Hemel Hempstead loop as part of The Great Big Walk for Herts! 🥾

Helping Herts has mapped out 12 incredible loops across Hertfordshire, each about 13 miles of pure walking bliss, showcasing the stunning views on offer. These routes start from easily accessible meeting points, so all you need to do is show up and step out!

Details:

Start time: 10.00am

Start and finish point: Hemel Hempstead Garden Centre, Great Gaddesden, HP1 3BY Distance: 13.0 m / 21.0 km

Ascent / Descent: 840 ft

Description: The route is walked in the CW direction. After leaving the garden centre climb steeply to the Amaravati Buddhist Monastery then along St Margarets road / track with views towards Ashridge House before arriving at Hudnall Common. Descend into Gade Valley with another sharp ascent and onward to Studham Common. Continuing along the high ground overlooking Markyate and Flamstead before turning southwest to Woodend and Gaddesden Row. The final 2 miles is through the Gaddesden Estate passing the Golden Parsonage and Gaddesden Place.

Difficulty: Easy to moderate. Two ascents out of the Gade valley with extensive views once onto the high ground. Predominately dirt track and grass path with one stretch along a metalled road. Be prepared for mud in, or after rain.

Please bring: Packed lunch and drinks, sturdy boots, waterproofs and hi-viz jacket.
